A highly recommended source for anyone interested in the Gettysburg battle in particular, and also for getting a sense of the soldiers' battlefield experiences in civil war battles in general. These letters, in addition to first hand interviews and battle walks with the veterans, were the basis for Bachelder drawing a set of three maps of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd day battlefield position of 5/5(1). Earlier items are miscellaneous McLaws family papers.
